South Carolina tumbler gift

I picked up a bunch of these clear tumblers, along with some colored, at the Dollar Tree.  Yup, everything is $1...great!  I love personalizing these glasses as a quick gift token.  If they get lost or break, it was only $1.  My friend Harry accidentally ran over his (a story for another day), and had really become attached to his glass....his had a bone fish on it.  Anyhooooo, I was happy to make him another....took all of 5 minutes.

This one is for my friend Angela who is giving it to a fellow counselor.  Her friend is moving way up north and wanted Lynn to hopefully remember her wonderful time in SC.  The palmetto tree and crescent moon combo is out state logo.

If you scroll down the right hand side of my blog you will find the free SC logo that is always available for download.

Charleston Summer Feelin'

What is South Carolina's claim to fame?  I'll hit upon 2 today. The infamous "Palmetto Bugs".  They grow to the size of toasters.  (It's a glorified name for the biggest cockroach on the face of this earth since dinosaurs!) They aren't scared of the human species and they have WINGS. Turn your light on in the middle of the night and you will find one sitting on your night table staring at you. Not to worry, the house lizards usually keep the population under control.  Two: The Palmetto Tree and the hundred year old Live Oak trees with their cascades of beautiful Spanish Moss.  Ahh...spanish moss...beautiful....a beautiful fungus and covered in red bugs, chiggers that will bury themselves under your skin and drive you crazy.  So the next time you're driving through our fine state and you see some free spanish moss...keep on driving, straight to your nearest Michaels, AC Moore's or Hobby Lobby and BUY it! Download HERE for Palmetto bug and HERE for Live Oak with moss. The Palmetto Tree was my very first blog day and you can find it to the right in my svg file.

First day of the New Year 2010

I'm a Carolina Girl who loves the beach, but my body is stuck in Greenville, South Carolina. I love the beach. I would rather have the intense sun on my back and the hot grainy sand in my shoes than to have a comfortable chair to sit in to view the blue ridge mountains. So what else is new?

Well, it's a new year and I have a new goal...to do a blog. Why not!

My first SVG is the Palmetto Tree and Moon, the South Carolina logo. I got the picture through public domain and tweaked it in Inkscape to create a svg file.
