Saturday Challenge
at
Catch the Bug
THEME:  Homecoming Dance (School colors)

RAH RAH RAH.  I feel I have been in school all my life. I also taught in a high school for 33 years and continue to sub...so yup...just about all my life....haha  I went the easy, colorful route for this challenge.  With 2 Masters, one from Clemson University (orange and purple) and the other from Furman University (purple and white), I knew immediately I was going Halloween with the great color choices.  (PS  In graduation programs, it list colors of degrees so people will know your major, like blue is for education.  One color is called "drab".  Who the heck would choose drab and what the hell color would that be! As God as my witness, I never saw a "drab" color in the processionals I was in....guess no one graduated with that degree..lol)

A2, buttons, punches, copics, glitter
Can you believe it...NO stitching.  I tried it and didn't like it... so I started over.  The background is Furman University and the image is Clemson.  Let's give it the ole college cheer...rah rah!

I used Brat Witch and Rickety Fence from Bugaboo Stamps.  Give me that school spirit and march on over to Catch The Bug and see the other school color cards.

Coming for a visit
We don't know where we're going, but we are on our way!

These are different sentiments I can use.  I made 2 more cards almost identical so I will use all the sentiments.  This is a special posting for Paper Pretties to celebrate "Heather's" birthday.  And, with a birthday, we get to do a little hop.  Hopefully, you came from Taylor Usry blog and after my card, you get to hop on over to Jackie Rakoski
Happy Birthday Heather!!!

Graduation Time ? .... 2nd Posting Today

Bugaboo
teaming up today with
The Greeting Farm

I chose to go with the graduation theme for The Greeting Farm.  I could have chosen colors and sketch; however, being a teacher, I decided to stay with the graduation theme.  The colors I chose are Wade Hampton High School colors.  The guidance department have senior volunteers and this will be a nice little card for one of the young ladies when graduation rolls around.  My son will also be graduating this year and we have been very busy with college visits.  I would love to do college all over again armed with hindsight...lol

I chose AKV - Fall Wheelbarrow Kids from Bugaboo Stamps for the fun Wacky Wednesday Challenge at PCP and CDAC.  There is a picture for inspiration; it reminds me of raking up leaves into a pile so you can jump into them, only for them to be scatter again....haha.  Carving a pumpkin on the back porch later that evening would be the end to a perfect day.  Join the fun....join the challenge.

Busy Busy

I miss having the chance to visit the blogs I like to follow.  I taught last week and took a day to do a college visit with my son and a few of his friends.  I'll be teaching (subbing) all this coming week, but at least the class is a digital art computer class that's very entertaining and there are some very talent students......high school.  The students definitely keep me on my toes.  Things will settle down and be back to normal after this week...well, I at least hope so....haha

Friends Fur - Ever

Animal Antics Saturday Challenge
at Catch the Bug

What a fun, fun "animal antics" challenge today at Catch The Bug! I am an animal lover!  I made another "box card" today....love the style and ease of making this unusual card.  I used Bobble Head Farm Dog and Bobble Head Farm Cat from Bugaboo Stamps. The card fits into an A2 size envelope, but will need one extra postage stamp.

I made a video to give a better looksy as to how the box card opens and closes.  In case you missed my first link to Beate Jones instructions, click HERE.

You number is up....next!

Yup....here's your ticket to get your mammogram.  Actually, I don't think the gowns are quite this cute and you don't actually get to wear ALL of it at once.  Ladies...you know what I'm talking about.  I would rather get a mammogram than go to the dentist.  Anyhoooo, here's Stella Nurse from Bugaboo Stamps handing you the gown.

STOMP OUT Breast Cancer

When I saw this wonderful Bugaboo Stamps image of the Paisley Elephant,  I thought about "squishing grapes" and "stomping mad"!  See how my crazy mind works when I see things?!  I try to make the card "unisex". I sited this past Saturday about men having breast cancer too.  So my card represents "stomping out cancer" and "squish weekly" (self-breast exam) because early detection can really help.

And the quest to post a card every other day with this theme continues through Oct. 14 at LINK UP FOR PINK. Please join me.

Silhouette LUMINARY

SATURDAY CHALLENGE
(ABC)  Anything But a Card
Theme: Trick or Treat
sponsored by Catch the Bug

Something just a little different Miss Jodie has to offer....a silhouette scene.  I had plans on turning it into an svg, but as I started thinkin' (which is dangerous at times), vellum popped into my head. I simply sized to my card and printed on vellum paper.  I then cut out a rectangle from the front of my base black card.  For a little extra color.  I cut-out another rectangle a little larger in orange paper. I taped the vellum to the back of the base card, added a fun do-da svg I made, tealight and called it done.  It fits nicely into an A2 size envelop, minus the tealight and only needs one stamp for mailing...YIPPEE!

I did a one minute video to help give you the real feel and ambience of my letter-size luminary.

Gus and Stella...We take breast examinations very seriously....

Warning.....adult humor!

A2 size, copics, PS8, stitching, punches, ribbon, embellishments, glossy accents

(inside)...especially every Saturday night!
I brought Gus into the picture because men get breast cancer too. It's only 1% but that is approximately 390 men who succumb  to this cancer. I fell into the 1% of post- back surgery problems.  I didn't like being in that 1% and asked "why me".  I don't think you would want your father, brother, husband or friend being in that 1% and having to ask, "why him".  LINK UP FOR PINK continues with their 2 week  challenge and quest to get the "word out" about Breast Awareness Month.  I continue to post a card every other day with that theme.  Yes, I use humorous cards, but I take the matter seriously and if I can get the attention of just one person to "stop and think", then I have accomplished what I set out to do.

Stella and I are on a mission

OBG Thursday (Oldies But Goodies)
at
Catch the Bug

Stella is my inner - child that says things I think, but dare not say.  Ribbon Gals - Stella is a digital image from Bugaboo Stamps.  Jodie has an entire team of "Ribbon Gals" you really need to check out."  Yes, I use humor, but with sincerity and a warm, loving, concerned heart. If I made someone smile, laugh, and think about "Breast Cancer Awareness" through my cards, then I have done my job.

My mission is to post a card every other day at LINK UP FOR PINK.  Such a wonderful group of ladies who have worked hard to spread the word.  The challenge also offers some awesome prizes.

My next card will include dear ole Gus. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2010, about 1,970 new cases of breast cancer in men would be diagnosed and that breast cancer would cause approximately 390 deaths in men. Most cases of male breast cancer are detected in men between the ages of 60 and 70, although the condition can develop in men of any age.  That may only be 1% compared to women, but do you want your husband, father or brother to be that statistic?????

WEDNESDAY TUTORIAL
at Catch the Bug
" Trick or Treat" - Anything BUT a Card

I do my fair share of recycling! I take a load of recyclable items every Tuesday.  In this particular case, I sometimes recycle tin cans that have a "pop top". I think it is a fun way to use as a gift holder.  For today's tutorial, I used Fancy Sunbonnet Witch from Bugaboo Stamps as my focal point.  I've taken pictures at various angles, but still felt it would help to do a little tutorial video.  I do my very best not to go over 3 minutes.  I was a stuttering girl with a southern accent, and a mess in this particular video, but  I  hope you get the jest of "how-to's" for this fun gift holder.

Kitties for Titties

LINK UP FOR PINK

This is my 2nd posting today.  I continue my quest to support LINK UP FOR PINK this being  Breast Awareness Month.

This particular card is in honor of my cyber-friend Sue (Sue from Oregon).  She recently finished the Susan B Komen Walk. One particular group of ladies walking wore "kitty hats with ears" and their t-shirts read, "Kitties for Titties".  It brought a lot of good, positive attention.  I'll do whatever it takes to do my part in bringing attention to the cause.

A2 size, glitter, stitching, ribbon, embellishment, punches, PS8, copics

This is Raggedy Critters  from Bugaboo Stamps. I tripled her and placed the ribbon upon each shirt instead of using the heart.

Halloween Cat Silhouette Luminary

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY
at Bugaboo Stamps

I will have 2 post today.  The first ... Halloween Cat Silhouette digital image from Bugaboo Stamps. Jodie has some fun silhouettes now in the shop....what fun images!! I made a circle shaped card, printed image on vellum, added a tea light for some ambience, and finished off with some personal touches.  I think the video really helps show off this little card...I hope you watch the one minute video.  AND, I do NOT talk....haha

The 2nd post will be later today continuing my quest to support LINK UP FOR PINK. In the meantime, mosey on over to see some more delightful, fun cards at Catch The Bug.

NEW RELEASE MONDAY
at Paper Pretties

What a great way to start a Monday....with two darling images from Paper Pretties. I also turned Halloween Rickety Fence jpeg, from Bugaboo Stamps, into an svg to offer a little more dimension in the card.

Breast Awareness Month

Yes, I use humor to attack the issue.....anything that will remind ladies (and gentlemen) to do a monthly check, to educate family and friends, and show support.  I too, have lost a family member and friend to breast cancer.  On the flip side, I have a family member and several friends who have beat breast cancer and wish to help get the word out!  Early detection and continued research are so important.  (My choice of card creations has met with the "seal of approval" from family and friends who have fought and won this battle.)

I used JJ - Pink Ribbons Gals  from Bugaboo Stamps to help spread the word. I continue my quest to support LINK UP FOR PINK....please join me!

World Card Making Day

October is the month for AWARENESS....in this case....Breast Awareness Month.  See my badge on the top left.  To help promote awareness this special month, I used Stella Peeker to help me out today. She is from Bugaboo Stamps. Celeste, Link UP For Pink, and Jolie have worked for months on the special month.  They have over 80 sponsors an $3000 in prizes in different challenges throughout the month. The challenge for the first annual LINK UP FOR PINK is HERE.

And, not forgetting World Card Making Day, we were suppose to use something to represent card-making, but there are just so many hours in a day.  The fact that I make any card on any given day should tell the story of  my love and passion for card-making....

I love Stella, I love card-making, and I love my little ta-ta's!!!!
