Shake your ba-donkey-donk!

My awesome blue-eyed, red-headed granddaughter is having a birthday soon.  I want to lavish her with several cards leading up to her birthday.  I won't be there for the celebration.

I bought this donkey svg some years back from SVG Cutting Files.  This time around I'm making 4 cards to have on hand for upcoming birthdays.  I just don't know why this donkey always makes me smile.  The little flower is a die cut also from years past. ( I may add google eyes for fun.)  I used a Spellbinder A2 Curved Borders One die cut.  This is my "go to" set I dearly love.

Cut It Up is having Challenge #182 with the theme being farm animals.  This little donkey is walking in the pasture celebrating birthdays. ( TIDBIT: Farmers say cows, goat, sheep, horses and other small farm animals in a pasture with donkeys are more protected from coyotes.)

A2 size. mschine stitching, rhinestone on flower die, Spellbinders
A2 Curved Borders One, copics for hooves

I did a total of 4 cards using donkey; here are two others. Sorry for background

Ba - donkey - donk

I thought this donkey svg from Svg Cutting Files was so cute when I saw it at Paper Piecing by Steph.  I made several male and female versions.
I made a boo-boo on the female card.  See if you can find what I did to cover it up...haha  As it turned out, I think I like my cover-up...looks like it was suppose to be there!

A2 size  Amazing the color difference in the two cards yet I set up in the same exact location.  The background is a light cream.  Pop-ups for dimension, cloud punch, Lawn Fawn hillside die. Jewel on flower

masculine version

Mojo Monday and SVG FREEBIE to celebrate" Back to School"

I have several things going on today.  The first, a Mojo Monday #150 challenge.  Below is the template we were asked to follow.  I've used this adorable donkey from Karen's Doodle before, but with a different sentiment.  There is glossy accent on the hat and liquid pearls on the flowers. (Size: A2)  This will also go out to OWH.

The second, Education and Back to School Week will be celebrated by our DT at Scrappily After After. There will be challenges, card ideas and freebies everyday from my blog.  The first is the "wise old owl". The anonymous "Tim with no name" is the artist of this public domain image. I just redesigned a little an made into an svg.

Gee Hawing and Pretzel

There is an expression some of use  in the South..."gee hawing".  I used it  with my sister-in-law from Rhode Island.....yup, a true NORTHERNER.  She finally bought a book on Southern expressions and not only finds it entertaining but a necessity to keep close at hand to understand what we are saying....kinda like a English-Southern dictionary...haha    Gee Hawing means "you're not in agreement or not on the "same page"or everyone is going in a different direction when there's a group discussion."  My sister-in-law is the vice-president of a big company that deals with the military in a big way.  Anyway, one day with the President of the company, another vice-president, and a few Colonels, she was giving her big spill and speech and heading a big discussion.  Before she realizes what she is doing, she interrupts the very noisy group and informs them they are not "gee-hawing" and wants the group to "come to order". They quickly stop all conversation and turn to her as she realizes her "slip of the tongue".  She quickly informs the men that she is married to a Southern Gentleman and with that came his family and her exposure.  The men got a few laughs out of it to her embarrassment.  It's very hard for a woman at times to carry a big title, large responsibilities, deal with the military on a regular basis and be taken seriously, so her words must be chosen carefully.  Those weren't the words she would had ordinary chosen for that day. Gee hawing is a term used in plowing while using a mule...gee to the left and haw to the right.  Watch old cowboy movies too and see them herding cattle using the same term.  End of Story!!
(I'm sending this to my sister-in-law, but making a few others with a "different sentiment" of OWH)

( The adorable digi stamp is courtesy of Karen Doodles which she created for a fellow team member who raises sweet donkeys.)

OWH Challenge #27  template

When cutting, I would not use the salt dots, but rather apply liquid pearls or while ink to represent salt.  I plan to make a shape card out of it with a cute sentiment and also use the image on background paper.
