It's my last day as a Guest Designer on the Bugaboo/Catch The Bug Team. I've had a blast, learned a lot, found some new friends, worked with the best DT ever! Thanks for the ride ladies and Paul!
I chose two images by Bugaboo Stamps, Howdysign and Wee Ones Cowboy - relaxing. I turned "howdy" into an svg and paper pierced the darling cowboy. The challenge is to "paper pierce and used faux stitching". I also used some real stitching. It was a fun card to create!
Head over and join the challenges at CDAC and PCP....lots of fun and two great chances to win 5 free images...doesn't get much better than that!!!
This little MONSTER BLOCK is from a new Halloween set from Bugaboo Stamps. I had the best time creating this. Yup, is another swing card, but I added one more element....also making it a gift card holder after seeing Kim's challenge card for this week at Catch the Bug. I also thought I would do a little video one more try since there is movement in the card.
It's back to school time, but learning is never on vacation....even in the summer! Paper Pretties has two new wonderful releases with a "Back To School" theme. I went off the grid though and chose a Mark Twain quote for my sentiment. But remember, each image comes with 2 sentiments....how great is that!
Well, house at Pawley's Island didn't exactly escape Hurricane Irene and yeah, it could had been worse, but hurricane season is not over till end of October. As you can see, it's a long boardwalk to the creek. That railing was so needed and only a handful of residents qualify for the rail. Wood and labor...VERY EXPENSIVE!
Now Ray and Dawn are battling Hurricane Irene in Rhode Island. They are without power as I write. Other house at Litchfield By the Sea has not been reported yet.
My love for svgs all began with the discovery of SVGCuts. So many people ask me about svgs and how I incorporate them with digital images. With the awesome files of SVGCuts and the world of SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot), my passions for svgs began. Leo is the brains behind SCAL tutorials which you can find on their site and Mary is the beauty behind the beautiful svgs.
Here are the two latest sets offered at SVGCuts.
Check out the video - Crisp Days of Fall.
If I can do Christmas in July, then I can do Halloween in August....sure...why not? I kept this darling Witch Block CAS (clean and simple). I think she turned out rather cute. She was quick, fun and easy! I simple took her into SCAL and changed into an SVG.
Head over HERE and see what fun cards were created by the fun-loving team at Bugaboo.
I did another "magic window card" and this time paid more attention to the measurements and did very best to try to give you some instructions. One particular part is hard to explain on paper so I did a little video on that section. I also did another video on the completed card. I used Sassy Devil Girl from Bugaboo Stamps. I did two cards....one with the image in the "center" and one with the image toward the "top" of the card. I'll save one for another day on Catch The Bug.
Instructions:
Step 1:
8.5 x 5.5 base cardstock (I chose black)
Turn it on longest side and score 1/2" on both edges; put a sharp crease on both scores and close card
Step 2:
With card closed, I place a 3" scallop circle template on the center of card and "taped lightly to hold it in place"
I then opened up the card and placed my punch over the scallop and punched out "one" side. Next, I closed the card again, took the 3" scallop template and placed it back in the exact location of the punched area and made sure it was taped on the other side where I needed to punch. Open up the card and punch the other side.
Step 3:
3 3/16"x 5.5 piece of cardstock (I chose orange). Open up card and place orange piece in direct center...should be about 1/2 inch from each side. Now, tape lightly the orange to the black. Close the card. Next, I took a 2.5" circle template, placed it in center of card, taped lightly, drew a light pencil mark around circle, removed the circle template and cut out the circle with my circle cutter.
Step 4:
(Easy, but instructions are hard to follow). Two 3.25"x 3" pieces of cardstock. (I chose black to match my card base.) On the 3.25 side, score a 1/2" line "on just one edge. Now, do the same to the other 3.25x3 piece of cardstock. See the video as to line up these 2 pieces on the card base. Once finished, you should have the 2 pieces centered and behind the orange piece.
Watch video at this time! (I do not speak in this first 15 seconds, but rather try to point out what to do.)
Step 5:
Open up the card COMPLETELY FLAT. Place a 2" circle template in center of card and lightly trace. I used the same procedure as I did to cut out the 3" scallop. It doesn't make any difference which side is on top when closing, but make sure one side is on top of the other. That's it!
Step 5:
You will ONLY tape the top and bottom of the orange piece. You must only tape these 2 edges so that the 2 black pieces will be able to slide.
It's time to get back into the "Stella mode"!!! Wacky Wednesday challenge is a recipe of "birthday, red, and lots of bling" to celebrate Min's mom's birthday. The Colorbloc paper had a lot of glimmer as well as the flowers. I enjoy creating fun, happy cards with Stella Birthday - Life of Party.
Head on over to CDAC and PCP and join in on the fun and two chances to win 5 images.
Don't forget about the new $1 digi section, paper and Deal of the Day for 1/2 off at Bugaboo Stamps.
Not just one, but TWO "new releases" today!! This is a new section for Bugaboo Stamps....a $1 section. I had just as much fun with this cowboy boot$1 digi as I do with the regular priced digis. I changed into an svg. I used DCWV "For the Guys" paper pack even though I think this card can be for a gal or guy....yes, even with the pearl embellishments!
NEW SECTiONS: $1 digi's, paper, and Deal of the Day (1/2 off)
Head over to Catch The Bug and see the other great card creations by the DT!
A2, stitching and faux stitching, silver paper, button, twine, pearls
I saw a little "magic window" card and wanted to try one. Of course, there were no correct instructions so I spent a good part of the day figuring it out. Fun and a little different. If my image was smaller I would have had more options, but this is the image I wanted to work with and introduce as one of the two new releases at Paper Pretties. (Don't forget....each comes with sentiments!)
I also used a super duper cute free svg from SVGCuts called TV Night.
Goooood day Saturday!!! I took Bee Bear - hive digi image from Bugaboo Stamps and turned this darling into an svg using SCAL2. I then decided to make it into a shape card...did some inking for dimension and finished off with a little sentiment hanging from the foot. Check out the other fun cards created by some of the DT members HERE. When I think of summer, I certainly think of bees...yum....the honey and the bees that pollinated all the fruit trees so I can enjoy my peaches all summer long. So, I'm entering this card also in the Art Impressions - summer theme challenge.
What a honey of an image created by Jodie at Bugaboo Stamps. This freebie is called "beary honey stroller". I turned the jpep into an svg, gave her some googley eyes, used MS button punch, Papertrey die cut, glossy accents and a few other goodies. Check out the other DT "honey of a card" at Catch The Bug.
I know I shouldn't do this, but I'm going to anyway...lol This morning, I fought "tooth and nail" to get these pictures of my youngest son , Mitchell, heading off to his 1st day of his senior year of high school. Just look at the JOY on his face!!!!NOT!!! Don't you just love the "forced" smile on his face in the second picture? I got it after just about threatening him...lol I need to find his 1st day of school for 1st grade and do a comparison.
My new DIL is a nurse anesthetists and so is her best friend. I mentioned last week her (and friend) college colors are orange and purple for Clemson University. This card is going in her birthday stash.
Head over to Catch The Bug! See other super, fun cards created with this cutie. There are TWO New Release images today at Bugaboo Stamps ...how cool is that!!! This little girl is called Raggedy Nurse.
Two things to celebrate today....Yippee!!! I get to help introduce one of two NEW RELEASES at Paper Pretties and at the same time get to participate in the "Birthday Blog Hop", celebrating Jackie's birthday. This is way cool....something Paper Pretties does on someone's birthday. Being a newbie on their DT, this is pretty exciting for me.
For The AI challenge this is one of my favorite techniques.....mixing digi with svgs....tow mediums. The BBQ tools came from My Scrap Chick. The grill svg was a freebie a long time ago I found on the web, but don't remember.
Even though summer is my happiest and most fun season, my second favorite is Autumn. I love the colors and smells. I used Halloween Pumpkin from Bugaboo Stamps. I also used some beautiful pumpkin vines in the Heirloom Pumpkin Flourishes set from SVGCuts....another set I use so much creative by Mary. I kept it simple but think I left enough color and texture without the pumpkin being overtaken by everything around it.
A2 size, copics, pop-ups for added dimension, stitching, shabby, distressed
SU sentiment
Challenge:
KB Cute Monday – Challenge #24 Anything Goes Using A Digi.
This darling freebie image is called Beary Bee. A talented card maker and cyber friend, Tami B. , made a "box card" using this template. I knew immediately I had to try it too. The link to instructions is HERE. I made several of these since they were fun and easy.
A2 size, copics, SU paper, MS punch, yellow pearls, glitter
My inspiration for this swing card came from Marilyn, another Bugaboo DT member. Check out her blog. I continue to make a card assortment as a birthday present for my new DIL. I will change the names on the card for her when she is ready to use. They are young and have lots of friends who are getting married or having their first anniversary. I use AKV - Love - Sunset from Bugaboo Stamps. I really enjoy "color" challenges....jump on over to CDAC and PCP and join in!
Ok...raise your hand if you remember this expression, "Cowabunga, Dude!" If you answered yes, you are almost as old as me! It felt right to turn this fun AKV - Summer water slide image into an svg. The little boy is tanner than in pic. It's so hard to take a pic with silver paper in the design.
Head on over to Catch The Bug and treat yourelf to some more DT interpretations of this cutie.
Something about this Goofy Ghost that I have loved since seeing him last year but never had a chance to create with him. THEN "lo and behold", SVGCUTS came out with a new file set called Summer Blockbuster Kit. I knew I had to marry the 2 mediums. I had the best time merging the two and happy with my results. There is an extra folded card attached to back to help it stand and for writing my note. It will fit fine in a legal envelop.
